Election Day!

May 19, 2009

Unfortunately, the Loyalist has been out of town for the past week-and-a-half, preoccupied by an engagement in the Santa Barbara area (more on that later). But now that that’s over, I’m back and on the attack, and with a fresh round of ballot measures up for consideration there is plenty to attack. The statewide initiatives all look pretty lousy, but the state is in a lousy state to begin with. I’m voting no on 1B and 1C and yes on the rest, but if you vote otherwise, I won’t hold it against you.

LA voters have a few more choices to make as well; a series of candidates from the March elections (remember those?) have returned for round 2 of their electoral slugfests. The most noteworthy of these runoff elections is the unsettled city attorney’s race, which pits Jack Weiss against Carmen Trutanich. I have to say, I’m not holding my breath on this one, as Jack has a thing for dirty money, and Carmen (who seems to have dropped the nickname “Nuch”) can’t shut up about all the evildoing gangsters he’s locked up. Also, the Westside’s district 5 is having a runoff between Paul Koretz and David T. Vahedi. Not being on the Westside, I don’t know much about these two candidates, but I’m sure they’re nice people.

So yeah, not the most exciting election ever, but we’ll have the results for you tomorrow.
