This Saturday: Los Angeles Bike Summit!

The Missing Persons were wise not to write a song called “Biking in LA”. LA’s got a strong biking community, and many of our two wheeled titans will be chatting it up at the Los Angeles Bike Summit. The events begin this Saturday at 9AM at Los Angeles Trade Tech College, and includes representatives from the New York’s Transportation Alternatives, Bogota’s Cyclovia, Portland’s Bikeportland.org, as well as locals from the Bicycle Kitchen, the LA County Bike Coalition, the Arroyo Seco Foundation, Midnight Ridazz, as well as my buddy Damien Newton of Streetsblog LA (we’re still friends, right Damien?). I was pleased to see BikePortland gave the event a positive review. Portlanders’ attitudes toward LA can at times be downright San Franciscan, but BP managing editor Eleanor “Elly” Blue is actually looking forward to speaking, and she’s also happy to be scooting around town on her foldy Brompton Bike.

The event is free, but you have to register in advance. Fortunately, registration is easy and fun! Just click the giant “register” link on the homepage. And the best part is that the event is easily accessed by bike or Metro, with a Blue Line stop right across the street. See you there!
